Buy Cars For Low Prices – 6 Ways to Get the Lowest Prices When Buying Cars

Essentially, when buying anything, the customer gives the seller something they want and in exchange the seller gives the customer something they want. Usually, the customer gives the seller money, and the seller gives the customer a product. A sale is an exchange of goods and/or services. You need to keep that in mind when bargaining to get a great deal, because its not just money that the seller may want, and its not just the product that you may want.

Yes, the main thing the car salesperson wants is money! But secondary to this they also want the sale to be quick – time is money, so if you take more of their time with hassles and complications, its only fair that they need to make more money from you buying, to cover the other potential sales they could’ve made while talking to you.

So, things to do / not to do to make your position fantastic for bargaining:

  1. Have cash available quickly – requiring finance is a hassle to the seller – cash is extremely enticing to them
  2. Do not trade your old car in – they dont want it – they make more money from the ones they normally sell. (Plus, they’ll give you a lot less for it than if you sold it privately)
  3. Know what you want – dont waste their time with questions – a great way to do this is internet research, or even going to other car yards first – spend time with another salesperson explaining all about the car, then go to another and buy one quickly
  4. Do not appear desperate to get the car – if they know you need the car, they know you’ll pay more for it – maybe tell them you’re looking at others too? (see FEAR below)

Now, the next 2 points are more to do with the way to bargain a great deal:

  1. Instill FEAR in the salesperson – did you know that’s what they’re trained to do with you? Limited offers, take it or leave it, cant go any lower… its all to instill fear. So turn it on its head, and say “well I dont really need it” or something similar – be prepared to leave without it – they’ll see this, and stop you with a better deal for sure!
  2. Use the SILENT treatment. This works amazingly! Try it out at work, on your friends, etc – when you’re trying to get someone to agree to something, try being silent if you’re not getting your way – most people dont like uncomfortable silence, and will babble their way round to your point of view.

So there you go – 6 ways to get a great deal and lowest prices when you go to buy new cars or used cars. Whether buying a car is a once-off event, or buying and selling puts the bread on your table, these steps are sure to help. The more of them you can use / achieve, the better!
